LOVES PARK, Ill. (Oct. 21, 2020) Rock Valley Credit Union (RVCU) is helping those most affected by COVID-19 with donations for two area charities.

Credit union leaders today held check presentation ceremonies at local nonprofits Carpenter’s Place and Miss Carly’s, presenting each organization with $7,500.

"We are so thankful to be able to support our community in this very difficult time," said Darlyne Keller, President & CEO of RVCU. "Miss Carly's and Carpenter's Place do crucial work in the Rockford region, and an increasing number of our neighbors have turned to them for help this year. It is an honor to play a role in the work they do."

Both organizations are dedicated to serving the homeless with services that include meals, clothing and counseling. They report growing need in 2020, because of the COVID-19 crisis.

RVCU applied for a grant to help the local nonprofits, and recently learned funding for the charities was approved by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago. Through its Targeted Impact Fund, the grant was designed to support relief efforts for organizations hardest-hit by COVID-19, as well as to promote equity and opportunity for communities of color.
